Billing for IONM Services

Intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) is provided at the request of your surgeon as an additional safety feature. When IONM services are provided, they will be billed separately to your insurance provider. Prior to your surgery, please contact our billing team to determine if the monitoring physician participates with your insurance provider.
After your surgery, we will submit a bill for our services to your insurance. They may pay for all of the costs, or for a portion, depending on your specific plan and you may be responsible for payment applied to the deductible or co-insurance. Our physicians have limited in-network participation and depending on your insurance plan, you may be receiving IOM services from an out-of-network provider.

Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

After surgery, your insurance provider may supply you with an explanation of benefits (EOB) outlining the charges for the monitoring services received. The EOB is not a bill from ANM. It is a form that provides you with information on how the claim was processed and the amount of any coinsurance or deductible you may be responsible for based on your plan’s benefits.
After receiving a bill, if there are concerns about the financial ability to pay the amount owed, please contact the patient financial services department by calling (415) 765-7105 or by emailing Billing@Alpha-NM.com.
